Yesterday, I just learned that my best friend was just hired to work for John Edwards. I have mixed feelings about this because many know I do feel strongly that our next President should have been morally right about Iraq from the start. Party why I waited out for Clark, and now for Gore.
However, I will admit John Edwards today is speaking out most of all the candidates. I support Barack Obama, but I am not firm in his camp. I haven't been completely sold yet. In fact, out of everyone running I haven't been sold by anyone.
I can say in my observation that John Edwards has run the must open and transparent campaign compared to all of the candidates. That I do like, campaigns are supposed to be about OUR future.
Now my best friend is in a paid position for the Edwards campaign, I can't say what he's doing or who he is other than he's going to be very close to Elizabeth Edwards. Which; is great in my opinion because Elizabeth which I haven't been shy about is the best spouse of all the candidates.
I would even support John Edwards solely because of Elizabeth.
If Gore does not get in this race, and I am 50/50 as well in my gut. I have to really evaluate who I will support and most importantly vote for in the primary next year. I've asked my friend who works for Hillary to see If I can meet her to get a good sense of who she is. Now that my friend works for Edwards, I expect that I will get the same opportunity to meet John as well.
I know in anger and frustration I have said some nasty things about John Edwards, but that's just because sometimes I strongly disagree with things he does. But with him, it's sort of like a love/hate relationship to his campaign. There are things I truly love about his campaign and things I would rather him not do or say.
But, I am not going to agree 100% with any candidate. Hillary Clinton has also said or done things I strongly disagree with. So has Barack Obama. So just because I have said I'd never vote for Edwards in the primary, doesn't mean never. Just like Obama and Hillary Clinton said they'd never run for President. Just like Gore says.
I think I have the right to change my mind about a candidate, about a campaign. I think we have all been dead wrong about things in our lives, like Edwards admits he was dead wrong about Iraq.
So right now, as my friend is set to begin his journey with the Edwards campaign. I will sit back and re-evaluate my thoughts on John Edwards.
In closing, here's things I do like about John Edwards:
- Commitment to end poverty.
- Commitment to give all Americans universal healthcare.
- Commitment to restore the economic disparity.
I look forward to the debate for our future.
